Today we released the results of our latest survey finding out how prepared companies are for the GDPR – it turns out, they aren’t!
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR for short) is legislation that covers the processing, storage, and use of private EU citizens’ data. The catch is, no matter where your company resides in the world, if you handle an EU citizen’s data, you are affected by the GDPR.
We have written a number of pieces on the importance of this legislation and how ioFABRIC helps you stay compliant, but don’t take our word for it – see what businesses across the world are doing to get up to speed with the legislation before May 25.
Do you know what the GDPR is?
According to the respondents in our survey, 15% of businesses in North America and Asia Pacific don’t even know what the GDPR is, let alone have prepared for it.
Have you taken any steps to prepare for the GDPR?
54% of businesses in North America have not taken any steps to prepare for the GDPR – ouch! Did you miss the memo that the GDPR comes into effect on Friday??
If you have taken steps, which steps have you already taken?
The majority of steps taken by businesses who are preparing for the GDPR include:
- Updating their privacy policies
- Developing policies for data management
- Developing policies for data storage
