Last week, we went to Gartner’s CIO and IT Executive Summit in Toronto. Among the many great sessions we attended, Mary Mesaglio’s talk on bimodal IT stood out.

In essence, bimodal IT is a process that alternates between conservative IT planning and more agile, short project cycles. The ability to quickly respond, scale up, scale down, and mitigate risk has become a requirement of business, and this process responds to that.
